Up and About
The family seem to have sufficiently recovered from the many and varied lurgys that we have suffered and we are just trying to shift the horrible cold that we have all been left with.
Everybody was well enough to attend our Scout Groups Rememberance Service and Parade yesterday, the Tallest and Smallest did especially well in the church and I was very proud of them. Some people scowled at the presence of young children, but I think that hearing the Tallest and her friend playing together in the Childrens corner just served to remind us all the more the reasons behind why we were all there in the first place. The fact that we were all their as a family – complete – is thanks to them. Our new Rector also did a fantastic job at explaining to the Scouts and Cubs about the nameless heroes of war, nevermind the famous generals and politicians, but think of the brothers, sisters, mothers, fathers, wives, husbands, aunts, uncles and cousins that were scattered and forever separated because of the wars and are still continuing to be to this day.
My Brother attended Rememberance at Port Stanley, Faulkland Islands, as he is currently there on a tour of duty, and I am sure that for him it was palpable why he was there. I personally do not believe that we (particularly as a nation) have become disconnected with the meaning behind Rememberance, and as long as wars are continuing to be fought, lives will be lost.
