Small but perfectly formed…
January 21, 2012…is how I could describe both the gift and the person it was made for. It was my Mum’s birthday yesterday, and the pin cushions were ordered requested by the Smallest after she discovered that Nanna kept her pins in a tin! The affrontery! I had intentions to make the small one with a wrist strap, as Mum sews gigantic curtains and other soft furnishy goodness for a living and wanted something more portable, but I am currently being dogged by awful toothache (caused by one trip, and not yet rectified by another trip to the dentist) and my concentration levels leave little to be desired.
Mum has taken up the gauntlet to make the wrist strap and isn’t at all worried that I didn’t complete my task, but there are more to be made as the Tallest would love one, although I am trying to convince her that she should make her own instead of me, but where’s the fun in that? She wouldn’t be able to boss me about if she did!
The buttons are the perfect finishing touch don’t you think?

Gorgeous pincushions and the buttons definitely add the finishing touch. So very sorry to read about the toothache… mind Dad always swore by whiskey and aspirin!! At least he was in pain with a slight smile on his face!!
Oil of cloves is meant to be good, but it can sting when you first use it.
Hope your dentist sorts the problem soon, because toothache pain is totally pants!
A prayer and a hug to you
San xx
I think they are really pretty and clever, and how you can even think to do anything like that when you have toothache beats me!
Well you can’t slack off if it’s your mums birthday can you?!
