Gnome Hat
January 4, 2012I had originally intended this hat to be for the Tallest as a Christmas present, but the making of the dolls became my priority.
I was happily following the pattern as found in The Children’s Year, when the Tallest duly informed me after looking at the pictures, that she wouldn’t wear a hat that had a long tail, so rather than frog the whole thing, I have foreshortened the long tail at the back, so all but for a bit of additional rib around the collar to tidy things up it’s all but finished.
Next time I decide to make my girl a hat, I’m going to sit her down in front of the patterns before I make a decision!

I made that hat for Pip a year ago and it’s too big, but Benedict however is quite happy to wear it whilst digging in the garden.. He naturally would not be seen wearing it outside of the home base… no street cred in gnome hats these days!!
Hope you’re managing the wild winds and keeping warm.
San xx
It looks terrible on, for both the girls which is a shame as I was so happy with the fair isle and stripes that I had done, I’m going to frog it, or chop it up and stitch it into a dollies dress it all depends on how brave I’m feeling! I’m off to browse Ravelry for a simple beanie or beret for her and, well, start again!! Lorna x
Hi Lorna,
I have two copies of Phil Vickery’s Seriously Good gluten Free food. If you would like one of them please could you email me your address to sandra@dhaynes.freeserve.co.uk and I’ll pop it in the post to you. He has a seriously good gluten free scone recipe, up until recently they were the one thing I missed, not anymore though!!
Hugs San xx
Thanks San that’s really thoughtful of you, but I actually have it! A birthday gift from my parents… I can’t get enough of the breakfast bars, I can easily eat all of them less than 24 hours after making them!
Thanks again Lorna x
